Sponsored by Mettler Studios, The workshop is designed for anyone wanting an intensive experience of dance as a creative art experience. Participants with all levels of experience are welcome. There will be opportunities for those interested in teaching this material to discuss methods of presenting it to others.
Participants will explore individual and group dance studies based on
 principles of dance developed by Barbara Mettler. 

This is a residential workshop with accommodations on-site at Windhover.  There may be an optional evening session, dancing with the environment, as weather permits. Cost of the workshop is dependent the number of nights one stays.

Fees: $200 for participants staying one or two nights
          $245 for participants staying three nights
                 partial scholarships are available

These fees include both tuition and overnight accommodations at Windhover.

If you are traveling from any distance we recommend arriving on Friday evening to be able to start the workshop on Saturday in a relaxed manner. 

Windhover requires that the facilities must be cleaned before departure. Also those arriving by car are asked to bring sheets, towels, blankets, pillows, and a flashlight.   We can provide these for those coming via public transportation.

Housing is in lovely cabins with shared occupancy and bathroom facilities in a separate building.

Workshop Instructors:
Griff Goehring, Nancy Lob and Mary Ann Brehm are veteran teachers of Mettler-based dance, working with people of all ages and abilities.  All three have been members of a Mettler Dance Company.

Mary Ann was Mettler’s dance assistant 1991-94 and taught

classes for adults at the Tucson Creative Dance Center for 20 years. She has taught for Lesley University's Creative Arts and Learning Master’s Program and also co-teaches a Creative Dance Teacher Training with Griff Goehring.  She has a PhD in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

Nancy is a leader of the ongoing dance group “Still Dancing”

in Newton, MA and is known for her innovative approach to teaching studies in the Time Element of dance. She has specialized in teaching older adults and people with physical disabilities for 30 years. She received a Lifetime Achievement from the International Association for Creative Dance in 2011.

There are several very nice, reasonably priced restaurants fairly nearby.  Vegetarian options are available. We are planning to eat out for lunches and dinner.  There is a full kitchen for our use, so you may bring food if you like.  We suggest bringing food for breakfast and snacks and are willing to gather food for those arriving via public transportation.

A train runs from North Station in Boston to Rockport.  Take the Outbound Rockport Line. Here is a link to schedules to Rockport 
(Read carefully and do not take trains that go to Newburyport as the line splits.)
People coming via plane may take the T  from Logan Airport to North Station.

Via automobile:
Directions from Boston Area/Logan Airport (please adapt to your location):

Take either Route 1 or Route 93 North
to Route 128 North
(Drive is approximately ONE HOUR to Gloucester and Rockport depending on traffic. Traffic may be heavy, due to Labor Day weekend.)

After passing exits to Beverly, Essex, continue on 128 North to Gloucester.
You will cross a high bridge onto Cape Ann
the bridge will end with a traffic circle/rotary.
Go THREE QUARTERS of the way around this traffic circle
and Exit onto Route 127 North (Washington Street)
You will pass Addison-Gilbert Hospital on your Left.
Route 127 is a winding road --
you'll go through small villages, look for a sign saying ENTERING ROCKPORT on your right.
Granite Street curves to the right and goes up a hill.
There is a left just before the top of the hill,
a WINDHOVER sign, and a DRIVEWAY.
Turn LEFT into a big field parking lot near the sign. Park here and walk toward the buildings.
